Who is this course for?
This course is for potential, new or inexperienced Supervisory Managers (Crew and Watch), those in acting positions and individuals identified as having the potential to undertake the role of Supervisory Manager. The programme comprises practical incident based scenarios designed to measure the performance of delegates against WM 7, Lead and Support Personnel to resolve Operational Incidents.

Course Outline
Following the disestablishment of the Fire Service Examination Board promotional examinations, there exists a requirement to ensure that Supervisory Managers receive appropriate training and assessment for managing the Incident Ground. This programme has been designed utilising a wide variety of simulated incident scenarios to enable the delegate to develop and demonstrate competence in a risk assessed controlled environment. In its 3 day format the course comprises purely practical scenarios and assessment. A further 2 days of theoretical input can be bolted on to the beginning of this programme to provide comprehensive Incident Management Training.

Assessment
The programme uses observation and feedback to assess:

  • Information Gathering
  • Assessment and Recording of Risk
  • Implementation of Safe Systems of Work
  • Application of Standard Operating Procedures
  • Risk Management as opposed to Risk Avoidance
  • Learning from Incidents through Debriefing
