Course Outline This course is accredited by the MCA to STCW '95, A-VI/1-2 and will provide part of the statutory basic training for seafarers and covers: - Causes of fires on ships
- Basic fire prevention
- Firefighting techniques
- Use of firefighting equipment
- Breathing apparatus
- Rescue techniques
Benefits Marine organisations are well aware of the implications of fires aboard ship, particularly at sea when assistance is rarely possible. Having a well trained and competent crew to deal with a fire situation is therefore invaluable. This course will provide all the basic fire prevention and firefighting skills to mitigate the causes of fires aboard ship and in the event of fire deal with them both safely and efficiently.
Assessments Assessment will be made by continual visual observation and questioning along with written assessment by competent, experienced trainers.
