Duration: Series of five one week modules

Who is this course for?
Newly appointed Station or Group Managers or those with no previous formal training. Individuals acting up or identified as having the potential to become Station or Group Managers.

Course Outline
This programme covers a number of ILM Level 5 units and supports the development of the knowledge and understanding and the skills required for relevant parts of the National Standards for the Role of Group Manager.

It addresses units:

  • SM 10 (Plan and implement activities to meet service delivery needs)
  • SM12 (Manage the effective use of resources)
  • SM13 (Select personnel for employment)
  • SM14 (Manage the performance of teams and individuals to achieve objectives)
  • SM15 (Develop teams and individuals to enhance work based performance)
  • SM16 (Manage yourself to achieve work objectives)
  • SM21 (Provide information to support decision making)

Assessment/Qualifications
Individuals opting for assessment will complete five work based assignments applying the models, theories and techniques covered in the programme to their own work situation. Successful completion leads to the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) Level 5 Certificate in Management.

Future Development

Individuals can continue their development by undertaking further specialist Level 5 ILM units ultimately leading to the Level 5 Diploma or any of the specialist leadership and management courses offered.
