Introduction to First Line Management

Who is this course for? Newly appointed first line managers or those with little previous formal training. Individuals aspiring to become a first line manager.
Course Outline This programme provides an introduction to some of the knowledge, skills and techniques that are required to be successful in the role of a first line manager or supervisor and offers a recognised qualification. During the programme there are opportunities to practice the skills and techniques with supportive trainer feedback.
The programme has one mandatory unit: Solving problems and making decisions
Participants then complete between one and three optional units chosen from a range of 31 covering the whole first line manager role.
A key part of the programme is regular one to one trainer feedback to help in applying learning back in the workplace.

Assessment/Qualifications There is one mandatory assessment: A work based assignment to solve a problem in the participant’s own organisation.
In addition there will be one or two assignments, depending upon the units chosen, to apply the theory, skills and techniques covered, to the participant’s workplace. Successful completion will lead to the ILM Level 3 Award in Management.
Future Development ILM Level 3 Certificate or Diploma, a Level 4 NVQ in Management or any of the specialist leadership and management courses offered.
