Effective Middle Management

Who is this course for?
Newly appointed middle managers or those with little previous formal training. People aspiring to move into a middle management role.

Course Outline
This programme provides a range of knowledge and skills that are required to be successful in the role of a middle manager and allows participants to gain a recognised qualification.

The programme has four mandatory units:

• Understanding the management role
• Developing the reflective manager
• Managing improvement
• Making a financial case

Participants then complete four optional units chosen from a range of 26 covering the whole middle manager role.
A key part of the programme is one to one trainer feedback for each individual to help them apply their learning back in the workplace and engage in a process of on-going continuous professional development.

Assessment/Qualifications

There are two mandatory assessments:

A work based assignment on the role of the middle manager in the participant’s own organisation.

An improvement report identifying and resolving an organisational problem

In addition there will be between two and four assignments, depending upon the units chosen, to apply the theory, skills and techniques covered, to the participant’s workplace.  Successful completion will lead to the ILM Level 5 Certificate in Management.

Future Development
ILM Level 5 Diploma in Management or any of the specialist leadership and management courses offered.
