FirebreakDuration: Day release for 1 day a week throughout a school term.
Who is this course for? Young People aged 12 - 16 who have been identified as being at risk of exclusion from mainstream education or as displaying risk-taking behaviour.
Course outlines and benefits. The course has been developed around basic Fire Service practical skills with a major focus on teamwork. This leads to developing the young persons self esteem and improving their inter-personal skills. During the programme other agencies engage with the young people in order to address issues which affect the community as a whole. Some of these agencies also deliver lifeskills, which will help the young person become better citizens.
The young people are given the opportunity to work towards AQA Unit Awards. There are up to 4 of these awards available for successful completion of the course.
