Firewise

Duration: 1 day

Who is this course for?
Young People aged 12 - 16 who have been identified as being at risk of exclusion from mainstream education or as displaying risk-taking behaviour.

Course outlines and benefits.
The course has been developed to be a selection process to identify suitable young people to progress onto the Firebreak programme.

At the end of the Firewise day selected students will have demonstrated a willingness to accept the discipline that is required to complete the Firebreak course.

Assessment is continuous throughout the day in order to identify suitable candidates. The day concludes with an informal interview where the young person can express what they have to offer to the Firebreak programme and also what they hope to achieve if they are selected.

Successful candidates will progress onto the Firebreak course where they will be expected to display an improvement of their overall behaviour at school. To ensure this is maintained the young person will enter into a suitable behaviour contract between themselves, their school and the Fire Service.
